Aperture for M2 Rangefinder, 20% larger- just like the later M4. The early M4 also have the smaller aperture. This aperture frame is located between the eyepiece & the rear element of the M2, M4 R/F, held on by 2 screws, allows you to see 20% more. Leitz changed to the larger aperture about 1/2 way through the M4 production.
