Leitz originally made their M5 camera with a defective main roller, the retaining pin holding the top roller for the 1st shutter curtain ribbon was too big causing the top roller to crack as seen in photos. The main shutter roller for the M5 is no longer available. All other Leica M main rollers are different from the M5 main roller. By now most of the early M5 cameras w/this problem have been repaired.
